Revanth Ukkalam, with a BA in History from Ashoka University and an MA in Sanskrit from Deccan College, is interested in social and cultural history of South Asia, travel through the ages, movement of texts and cultures, and historiography. He intends to study the allusions to historical events of Ancient India in the 11th century Sanskrit text from Kashmir, Kathasaritsagara and the Bruhatkatha tradition in general dated to early centuries CE.
He is curious about the narrative structures in Sanskrit epics and literature that make both the preservation of historical memory and the very convenient morphing of events and persons possible. He looks forward to expanding the project to encompass the iterations found of this tradition across languages in South Asia including Prakrit and Tamil, and also hence investment in these language cultures. He enjoys traveling, whistling songs, and making memes.
